oops, yes the 19.65x10.25 is the total dimensions. That includes the spine and wraparound area so 8.75+8.75 (front & back covers) = 17.5 + 1" for the spine = 18.5 + 1" to wrap on each side.

It says that 8.5x8.5 hardcover books will need an "19.65"x10.25"" cover image (though it does sound like it is not too accurate for the pro binding)

Megan, we recommend you make your cover file just like your interior pages. So for an 8.5x8.5 book just make the cover 8.75x8.75 and keep all important items away from the outer edge.
