Cropped cover?

by ellayxg, 12 Dec 2010 (07:57 UTC)
Hi, I'm confused about the first video — if I understand the crop guides correctly, doesn't it mean that the back cover of that beach trip photobook will have the top of the lady's head cut off and the left of the baby's?

Or does using Book Designer take care of scaling/cropping/bleed issues? I have photos with impt elements that do go all the way to the edge and I don't see any way of getting around the crop problem short of manually adding a safety border to all my photos, which defeats the point of having an easy to use software.

I've read the help pages but don't understand how it works since a lot of the advice given seems directed at people uploading completed pdfs as opposed to using Book Designer (where you don't get to specify the size of the final picture uploaded, just the dimensions).

Please help?

Hi, Ellaxg,

We recommend keeping all important elements at least a half inch away from the border. If you are using a template in the book designer, this should already be accounted for in the template. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Audio on Screencast

by Nancy Snythe, 15 Apr 2009 (15:41 UTC)
I can't hear film. I am having a difficult time getting started since I don't understand and am a visual person. I want to see what I need to do to create a wedding book for friends. I thought I would have more flexibility that with Shutterfly, but perhaps I should use their simple layout instead, even if my cropped photos don't fit their styles.

Hi Nancy,

I just checked the Audio and it works correctly. Can you verify the sound settings are working on your computer, ie make sure other movies play like at youtube.com for example. This page is described creating your own drag and drop Quick Pages. It is a pretty advanced topic! Let us know what questions you have, and be sure creating your own reusable templates is what you want to do.

Video Tutorial

Not sure if it's just me, but it seems that at about 4 minutes or so remaining (when the uploaded pdf is processing) the video stops and there is just audio.

Yeah, the last 5 minutes of this video (right after the PDF file was uploaded) contains only sound, not actual video. I am watching this video in Firefox on a Mac.

Thanks for the heads up. We'll have a tech rep check it out

()On 31st March you said you'd get a tech to look at problem of faulty video, ie only sound at 5 minutes, well its now 15 May and it's still the same. Doesn't give us much confidence in your service.

Dear Mandi,

Thanks for letting us know! We are actually in the process of re-doing these screencasts since we have made so many updates to the site since these were created. Please email support@prestophoto.com if you have a specific question.
