We began to develop a friendship. Dave as well as Barney. Dave began to offer Barney to me on the weekends. His company was most rewarding and he became an instant hit with the neighbors.

By late fall Barney had a new permanent home with me would provide purpose to my life over the next five years. It was like I had adopted a child. I certainly spoiled him like one. He slept on his side of the bed with a nice pillow under his head and all four paws facing upward. Then there was food. There wasn't much of anything he didn't like. Ice cream was by far his favorite.
